Turkey poults arrive at the farm and are raised inside a brooder with deep bedding for 6-8 weeks, depending on weather, then moved to inside a chicken tractor on pasture for another 4-6 weeks and moved daily. After they outgrow the chicken tractor, they head to a 1,600 square foot paddock with a shelter and moved twice a week until November.
Turkeys are started with convenient, high-protein feed until 6 weeks of age. Then they are fed organic turkey feed and supplemented with garden or orchard scrapes, as available. In addition, turkeys are active foragers, collecting vegetation, seeds, and bugs.
Females typically come out around 9-10 lb. with males 13-14 lb. Roasted turkey comes out flavorful, tender, and moist.
Turkeys are processed on-farm and will be packaged in shrink wrap and frozen, unless you wish to pick them up prior to the freezer.
Turkeys are raised between June – November and are typically ready for pickup in 1-2 weeks prior to Thanksgiving.
Turkeys can be held in my freezer until they are convenient for you to pick up, within reason.
